An Evident God

From the Pastor…       An Evident God

Space and time, not proteins and neurons, hold the answer to the problem of consciousness. When we consider the nerve impulses entering the brain, we realize that they are not woven together automatically, any more than the information is inside a computer. –Robert Lanza

As you know, I have a great interest in science and read all I can on every level of human discovery.  The blessings that come from knowing how reality works cannot be weighed adequately.  Research has relieved so many burdens, healed and prevented so many diseases, and improved the welfare of humans immeasurably.  I consider all healthy progress in science to be gifts from God.

Explaining life and its meaning is impossible without positing the existence of a Supreme Being.  Life means nothing without God, really.  Simply explaining the mechanics of the physical world is not enough.  Why are we here at all?  Did the complexity of life just happen spontaneously?  That notion strikes me as ridiculous.  To me, all discoveries are merely our way of tracing the creative steps of a creative God.

Just because we can’t “see” a Creator doesn’t mean there isn’t one.  When we see the Creator’s handiwork, we MUST posit the reality of a creator.  One does not walk into the woods and find a rectangular structure of wood and stone, roof and windows, doors and lights only to declare: “This came about all by itself.”  No, one KNOWS there is a house builder.  The same applies to atoms, molecules, cells, and tissues… too ingenious to be haphazard or lucky coincidence. – Such evidence demands a verdict, which leads a rational person to a seriously important conclusion: “I believe in God.”

             God’s best to you today,
