What is Truth?

From the Pastor…      What is the Truth?

In fact, men will fight for a superstition quite as quickly as for a living truth – often more so, since a superstition is so intangible you cannot get at it to refute it, but truth is a point of view, and so is changeable. — Hypatia

There are a wide variety of opinions about the steps being taken to stem the spread of the present form of virus.  Some think more needs to be done… some think present guidelines are just right… some think the response is excessive… some consider the response to be hysterical overkill… and others, well, who knows what people think?

Hypatia was certainly correct. Truth is a point of view.  The political world has long been arguing over facts versus fake news.  People look at the same sets of data and come to very different conclusions. Actually, we all tend to view “facts” through the lens of how they best serve our own personal needs and interests. Such as always been the case, no matter what the subject might be.

No human fully comprehends the truth 100% accurately. The only one who does that is the Son of God, the embodiment of truth.  Jesus is either The Truth (The Way and The Life), as he claimed to be, or he was a nut.  I believe he is the Truth and we ought to listen to him. We spend a lifetime doing that because there is always more to learn.

Let’s BE people of the Way, the Truth, and the Life today. Apply the truth to all areas of life and you will be participating more fully in the Kingdom of God.  Lord knows, we always need the Kingdom to be at work in the world.

                 God’s best to you,
