From the Pastor     Good Morning!

The older you get, the more fragile you understand life to be.  I think that’s good motivation for getting out of bed joyfully each day. — Julia Roberts

So how do you get out of bed in the morning?  Do you drag yourself up with a sense of dread, or do you bounce up with excitement and anticipation of what the day will bring?  Let me guess that some days are a drag while others elicit a bounce.  So much depends on what is going on… and whether you enjoy what you have to do or dislike the tasks at hand.  Much depends on how you feel, too.  Poor health leaves little energy while feeling great makes things easier.

Getting older has many advantages.  You have seen enough of life to know that things can change in an instant… for good or bad.  Since our days are limited, we sense how valuable they are.  Since we understand our fragile natures, we appreciate our strengths and blessings.  Seeing how destitute and poor many humans are on this planet helps us realize how rich we are!  Knowing our weaknesses makes us dependent on God.  The list goes on.

As Psalm 68:3 puts it: But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.  Yes, some days are so full of troubles that it is HARD to be joyful.  But there are good things about each day; we simply need to be looking for them.  At least be assured that God wants you to be joyful.  When our attention is drawn to God, it happens.  We don’t have to force it; we simply wake up to it.

                          God’s best to you,
