             Material Mysteries and Spirituality

I love looking at pictures of nebulas and reading articles about black holes and dark matter – I always tie it into spirituality. — Selah Louise Marley

Delve deeply into science and it won’t be long before you bump into mysteries. There are many fundamental forces we don’t yet understand, such as light, gravity, and so-called dark matter and black holes.  There are theories, some of which are proven true and others which lead to surprises.  There are new ways of testing the realities of time and space, but we have a long way to go. Even our best understandings of how physics works invariably confront realities that are yet unexplainable.

Like Marley in the quote above, pondering the massive objects of the universe (as well as the microscopic objects in it) lead me to ponder the spiritual reality of it all.  Science helps us know that there is more than meets the eye.  Faith helps us know that there is more than meets the eye.

Sadly, the vast majority of humans settle for superficial levels of understanding both.  We aren’t curious enough to ask more.  We are too lazy to do the work of searching and seeking.  Jesus told us to seek… and we will find.  Knock… and the doors of understanding will be open.  Ask and ask and ask… and eventually the Universe /God will answer.

What’s your answer to the important questions of life?  Where did we come from?  Why are we here?  Where are we going? Why wait until your death bed to find the answers?

             God’s best to you today,
